Meet Katy
My name is Katy Owens, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I completed my Master’s in Psychological Sciences from James Madison University in 2018 and Master’s of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2022. I became a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) in 2023, and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in 2024. I have over four years experience serving youth, adults, and families with substance use disorders and/or co-occurring mental health disorders. I am a certified clinician and trainer in the Community Reinforcement Approach, an evidence-based practice to treat substance use and/or co-occurring disorders.
Our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are in such a strong relationship, where when one thrives, the others are empowered to thrive. On the other hand, when one struggles, they all struggle. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, my aim is to help people identify specific ways to improve their thoughts, feelings, or behaviors to enhance their overall wellbeing and quality of life. I work with my clients through person-centered, trauma-informed, strengths-based, behavioral, and systems approaches. Whether you have been making changes and are just looking for additional support, or you are contemplating change but are unsure where to start, I am passionate about helping you figure out what you need to live the life you dream for yourself. You are the expert in your own experiences, strengths, needs, and goals, and my role is to empower, encourage, inspire desired change.
